Huay Tueng Tao – A Hidden Chill Out Lake in Chiang Mai








At the north of Thailand, Chiang Mai is not only well known for unique and traditional Lanna culture, it is also famous about abundant natural attractions. Each year, Chiang Mai attracts numerous people to come this particular relaxing place includes Huay Tueng Tao, a large man-made reservoir at the foot of Doi Suthep. Huay Teung Tao is one of charming places enveloped in beautiful natural surroundings. All year round, Huay Tueng Tao offers you a warm welcoming and a chill out atmosphere where there is no rush.

Organized by Kawila Military Camp, Hauy Teung Tao is a popular destination for locals. Situated about 7 kilometers north of Chiang Mai, Hauy Teung Tao is an appropriate spot to sit back and relax your busy day. Surrounded with huge mountains, woodland, and rice paddles, this hidden lake is set in a perfect compound of nature. The beautiful scene of the golden sunlight shining from behind of the mountain reflects the surface of water all day. The soft wind blow attracts the dragonflies to spread its wings in the air.

As Huay Tueng Tao looks like a secret Chiang Mai sea in a valley, the small sand beach becomes a hot spot to play water. Many floating food stalls are built up like a hut located on the edge of the lake in order to help visitors get close to nature as well as enjoy eating local foods. In this public park area, there is a 3 kilometers long road provided for visitors to explore around and feel free to choose their favorite spot.

At Huay Tueng Tao, there are many activities provides for visitors to join and have fun with. Visitors can do either cycling, bird-watching, picnic, running, walking, or any other things in the area. The most popular activities are biking and fishing because there are mountain-bike tracking and fishing spots provided around Huay Tueng Tao. For people who love excited, there is also paintball, ATV, and tower jump to escape boredom.

Huay Tueng Tao is open everyday from 8.30 am to 6 pm. Entrance fee is 20 Baht per person. The best way to visit Huay Tueng Tao is by private transport.

Although Huay Tueng Tao is not somewhere many tourists ask to go, I'm sure they will love it once they get to know this place.
